Description
Hello, I am a long-time eBay seller - since October, 1999. I have a 100% feedback record, so bid and buy with confidence. I have collected records for many years and every record I offer comes from my personal collection. The grade I specify for the vinyl is based upon a playback as well as a visual inspection. The grade I assign for the cover and inserts (if any) is based upon a close visual inspection. My grading standards are conservative - I believe that it does no one any good to inflate the grade of the record only to have the buyer be disappointed upon receipt and wish to return it. I offer a full, no-questions-asked return policy on every record I sell except in very rare circumstances. In those rare cases, I clearly state the condition of the record and explain why I cannot accept a return on it.
For sale today is a great copy of the Days of Future Passed album by The Moody Blues issued in 1967. What makes this album special is that it is in the mono format as a United States release. Mono was being phased out in 1967 and, unlike the English version of this album, only a small number were issued as a US pressing. A cool, highly collectible item that is infrequently seen.
As to condition, the vinyl conservatively looks VG+ to VG++. The grooves are sharp and clear but there are several marks and wispy lines that do not affect play. Indeed, the album plays and sounds Near Mint. Only a pop or two - hard to believe it is 51 years old.
The outer cover is in Near Mint condition. Colors are full and vibrant, front and back. All corners are sharp and square except that the upper right front corner has a very small push or crinkle. Nothing major but I mention it for completeness. The spine is full and complete. There is also a small punch hole near the lower right corner. [Some folks believe a punch hole is indicative of a promo issue; I respectively disagree - the punch hole was likely made by the record store or distribution facility in order to re-price the album and move it. Folks just were not buying mono records back in 1967.]
The labels are in Mint shape as is the original inner sleeve (which also shows a punch hole, confirming that it has been with this particular album ever since it was issued).
Since I purchased this album, I have stored the vinyl in an archival inner sleeve, which I then placed in a separate cardboard cover to best protect both the vinyl as well as the original outer sleeve (see photo).
All in all, a great example of this classic album by the Moody Blues! Thanks for looking.
