Okay.....you know the story of this one....
This could very well be the first recorded "Surf" song that started that genre of music....
This was recorded in 1960 and the song went on to become a standard to surf bands around the world. 'Moondawg' is probably the most recorded surf instrumental in history.
And.....the band itself went on to create another kind of history....
Members included Al Wilson....later of Canned Heat......Eliot Ingber....later of The Mothers of Invention....and of course Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys and composer of "I Write The Songs".....rumor has it, also, that Sandy Nelson was in the band......
Here's your chance to complete that surf collection with the song that just may have started it all.....
I grade this disc at a VG......it plays cleanly for a 50-year-old single.....trust me....
There is a name printed on the A-side face by the original owner....dated June 8, 1960....can't hurt the provenance, I guess....
You are bidding on World Pacific X-815 "Moon Dawg" by the Gamblers.....flip side is "LSD-25"....how prescient is that for 1960?
