Description

The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.

Morrissey - 'Suedehead' Double Vinyl LP - 1997

Catalogue no. EMC 3771 - EMI Records

As with several of Morrissey's albums, this one is very difficult to find in the vinyl LP format with the majority of the copies sold being on CD. This double LP from 1997 was pressed on heavyweight glossy vinyl and came in a superb thick gatefold outer sleeve. It has recently become very difficult to get hold of in collectable condition, and has become highly desirable amongst collectors. The rarity of this release was reflected in Record Collector's 'Top 50 Morrissey Rarities' article, in which this double LP appeared at number 35 in the list ahead of many promotional discs and mis-pressings. This copy is also sold with a promotional 2-sided glossy paper flyer issued for the French market, which would have originally been circulated separately from the LP. This flyer illustrates very nicely the 'evolution' of the plans for this album, which changed as the release date came closer. Subtle changes such as a difference in the track order, whereby tracks 2 and 3 are switched in position, and the slightly earlier proposed release date are evident. In addition the artwork was yet to be finalised, and an adaptation of the 'Vauxhall And I' artwork was used overlayed with the new album title in gold. Undoubtedly the most interesting difference, however, is the famously-abandoned plans for a second 'bonus' CD containing unreleased material. Even the tracklisting on this bonus CD was seen to change before it was finally scrapped altogether. Here the proposed bonus CD lists 'Trash', 'That's Entertainment', 'Oh Phoney' and 'Striptease With A Difference' as the additional tracks, but other promotional booklets have been seen elsewhere advertising different tracks on this extra CD. The flyer makes for a very interesting piece of Morrissey solo-career history and is sold here with the very rare double vinyl LP offered in very nice condition (see below).

The vinyl and labels for each of the two records are in strong excellent condition, having been played once or twice at most and having only the occasional surface mark which appears to be a result of manufacture rather than handling. The vinyl is bright and glossy, and the original white paper inner sleeves are also present and intact with no splits or tears. The terrific heavy glossy gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition, having some mild wear to the corners and edges in a few places but no tears, writing or sticker-marks. There is neither any creasing or seam-splitting, and all edges are sharp. The faces of the sleeve are tremendously flat and glossy, maintaining an impressive 'as-new' appearance. The promotional flyer is in near mint condition, with no creases or other significant signs of handling at all. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 2.50 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.

See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remaining postage myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this (free) site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
