Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' Canadian Promo 12'' - 1985

This is a very interesting 12" pressing of the classic Smiths single 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side'. It is a 1985 pressing for the Canada market and is a promotional copy with a large gold stamp on the reverse. What is instantly noticeable about this variation is that the sleeve has black lettering denoting the band name instead of the more familiar orange font; and arguably looks better than the orange version. The reverse of the sleeve is also unique in that, as well as the large gold promotional stamp, the credits are particular to this Canada release and the font is entirely black as opposed to the mixture of brown and orange seen on the more common sleeve design. In addition the labels on the record itself have a superb Warner Bros. crest design (see photos) which really sets this apart as a different desirable version of a well-known 12" record; and which also has the added scarcity of being a promotional copy. A terrific opportunity to get hold of this genuinely rare and original Smiths collectable record in superb condition (see below).The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, with only the lightest of superficial 'hairline' surface marks in a few places on the highly-glossy vinyl which appears to be unplayed. The black die-cut inner sleeve is intact and the rare and unique outer sleeve is in strong excellent condition, with only very mild corner 'bumping' and wear in a few places. There are no seam-splits and no creases. The only imperfection is an intentation on the reverse which can only be seen if held to the light, whereby a previous owner or radio station has leaned on the sleeve to write on a piece of paper above without writing on the sleeve itself. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
