Released in 1979, Mother's Finest Live is widely considered by music critics to be one of the most explosive and energetic live albums of the entire 1970s. Recorded on tour after the massive success of Another Mother Further and Mother's Factor, this album captures the Atlanta, Georgia-based outfit—fronted by the peerless vocal duo of Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock—at the absolute height of their performing powers.
While the band’s studio albums were incredible, it was on the stage where Mother's Finest truly earned their legendary reputation. They were famous for routinely blowing headlining acts off the stage with their fierce fusion of heavy metal guitar riffs, blistering gospel soul, and deep, slapping dance floor funk.
Produced by the band alongside Tom Werman, the record features definitive, definitive live versions of their biggest hits, including a thunderous rendition of "Baby Love", the groove-heavy "Watch My Stylin'", and a blistering performance of "Mickey's Monkey."
