Description

An absolute grail for fans of funk, hard rock, and soul: an original 1978 US White Label Promotional pressing of Mother's Finest's masterpiece, Mother's Factor.
Released in late 1978, Mother's Factor is the fourth studio album by the pioneering Atlanta, Georgia-based outfit Mother's Finest. Fronted by the explosive vocal duo of Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock, the group is legendary for being one of the few bands in history to truly tear down the walls between heavy arena rock, funk, and soulful R&B.
Produced by Tom Werman (famed for his concurrent 1970s production work with Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, and Blue Öyster Cult), Mother's Factor captures the band at their tightest and most aggressive. The album masterfully blends heavy guitar riffs with deep, slapping basslines and soaring gospel-infused vocals.
The record features the signature dance-floor funk track "Don't Wanna Come Back", the roaring rocker "Can't Fight the Feeling", and their incredible, heavy cover of Mickey & Sylvia's classic "Love Is Strange." Your copy features the early "1E" and "1F" matrix codes, indicating it was pressed using the absolute earliest master lacquers at Columbia's Pitman, New Jersey plant, pulled straight from the initial production line specifically to be rushed out to major radio stations.
