Mott The Hoople ~ Mott The Hoople ~ ILPS 9108 ~ Pink i Island ~ A2/B1 VG/NM/EX

Release Info

Taking their name from a book about an eccentric who works in a circus freak show. The band produced many albums, this one is their first self titled album found here in its original pressing

The band had their ups and downs over the years and owe a large part of their real success to the late great David Bowie who penned their most famous hit and produced one of their albums.

The band also lost one of its members around the same time Mr Bowie passed on.

A sad time for the world of music

Vinyl condition: VG

Labels: The labels are lovely and clean, with 1 5p size mark on side 1. Very feint spindle trails side 2

Spindle hole: Nice and clean

Playing surface: Both sides have a nice luster. Side 1 is very tiny and almost NM to look at. Side 2 has a number of hairlines, small scuffs and the edge of the record has turned a milky white in a few places. In addition there are some spots that will not come off with cleaning.

Run Off: Some very very light marks, but nice and shiny

Overall its a record of two halves, but when played it sounds excellent

Sound: NM

After listening right through this album, the sound is really good with the occasional very very feint trace interference and very mild very occasional crackle

Overall the album is a great listen with good overall clarity and depth of sound, with no skips or jumps.

Overall its a great sound, with low noise and great range and power. It sounds so much better than it looks

Cover, sleeves and insert condition: EX

Spine: The spine is lovely, with slight rubbed edges top and bottom

Seams: Lovely and tidy, no damage or heavy wear

Opening: Very straight. The thick gauge card has thumb wear, but there are no rips or tears

Front Cover: Held under light there is virtually no wear at all. A couple of tiny spots of paint by the looks of it at the 6 oclock position. Other than that its lovely for an unlaminated matt finish. It looks lovely and clean

Back Cover: Very nice and tidy with the previous owners name written top right

Sleeve: Plain white anti static is in great shape

Overall a really nice sound, a very good looking vinyl with nice labels, and a really clean and well loved cover. A nice collectors peice.
