Description
Rush — Moving Pictures 40th Anniversary, 5LP Deluxe Edition box set. Purchased new by me, played exactly once, then shelved upright. Records are Near Mint with no marks, scuffs, or spindle wear. Box and jackets are clean and square — no ring wear, no corner crush, no shelf wear. The book and all inserts are present.
What's in the box:
- 5 × 180-gram black vinyl LPs
- LP1 — Moving Pictures, in the 2015 Abbey Road remaster
- LPs 2–5 — Live in YYZ 1981: the complete Maple Leaf Gardens concert from March 25, 1981, previously unreleased in any form, mixed by longtime Rush producer Terry Brown from the original analog live multitracks
- Booklet with new Hugh Syme illustrations for each song and liner notes by Kim Thayil, Les Claypool, Taylor Hawkins, Bill Kelliher, and Neil Sanderson
- Original box and all inserts
Why this pressing: every side here was cut at half-speed using Direct-to-Metal Mastering — the first time Moving Pictures has ever been cut that way. The result is exactly what you'd hope for on this material: the surfaces are dead quiet, and Peart's kit has separation and decay that the earlier pressings flatten. "YYZ" and "Tom Sawyer" in particular have low end with real weight behind it.
The live set is the other reason this edition matters. Toronto, March 1981, six weeks after the album came out, the band playing to a hometown crowd on the way up. Four sides of it, and it had never been released before this reissue.
