Description
Mtume was a very accomplished percussionist, he played with Miles David among other legends of jazz and funk. he was born James Forman, the son of the legendary jazz saxophonist-Jimmy Heath. he recorded many succesfull funk albums in the 1970s when not playing as a sideman in jazz groups. He scored a hughe hit with his track Juicy,
In 1972, he recorded perhaps the first album dedicated to the 7 principles of Kwanza, Nuguz Saba although the songs are not Kwanza songs.. The session was recorded live at the now defunct East Club of Brooklyn, NY in the summer of 1972 with stand out musicians including: Stanley Cowell-piano, Gary Bartz-alto/soprano sax, Buster Williams-bass, Carlos Garnett, flute/tenor sax, Billy Hart-drums, Andy Bey-vocals and others. Other e-bay vendors are listing this at appx $600, and Japanese vendors at $400. plus international shipping fee.
Vinyls are in the orignal inner sleeves but I will include 2 new high quaility inner sleeves as well. I will VPI both sides of the record to eliminate dust accumulated in over 30 years of storage. As seen in the actual photos, there is visual ring rub wear, front, black and inside the gatefold. There's appx 1 1/2 inches of seam separation on the top right corners.
As a life-long record collector, I protect and pack records very well before shipping using a traditional cardboard LP mailer
