It's awfully difficult to improve a masterpiece , but the folks at Analogue Productions did just that with their 2011 audiophile 45 rpm 2-Lp reissue of Muddy Waters' 'Folk Singer' album. This all-acoustic collection of Delta-style blues by the great Muddy Waters was first recorded in 1964 and is perennially cited by critics and blues fans as one of the greatest blues records ever made because of its intimacy and emotional power. Quality Record Pressings, an audiophile record label devoted to excellence in audio engineering, has injected this cozy studio performance with startling realism via an all new remastering process. Even with an inexpensive home stereo system (provided, of course, that your turntable can play at 45 rpm) you will notice a dramatic difference in sound clarity on this recording versus any other CD or Lp in your collection. The audio realism will blow your mind. If you're not familiar with 'Folk Singer', don't let this contrived title fool you. This is not a hootenanny, it's a tight "unplugged" blues session with Willie Dixon on stand-up bass, a young Buddy Guy on acoustic guitar and Muddy on acoustic slide. Muddy's guitar dueling with Guy inspired legendary playing from each. And Waters' vocals on classics like 'Good Morning Little Schoolgirl' and 'Long Distance Call' are remarkably gripping.
