Description
This is a seldom seen, blueback edition of this record. I have seen this record with different (in my opinion inferior) sleeve art but I believe this is the one to have! It is a fantastic recording of a definitive performance by Munchinger & the Stuttgart ensemble who seem particularly suited to music of this era. The strings have an exceptionally fat tone here & it breaths fresh life into this, almost too often heard, piece. The record appears slightly tatty at first. The Cairfoil is lifting on both sides around the jacket opening & the bottom flipback has lifted on the right hand side as can clearly be seen on the photograph. Visually there are quite a few scratches visible on both sides. During play however the signal to noise ratio is superb. Truly a brilliant job on the part of the Decca engineers. The scratching has resulted in : 1 light TICK at 5.55 of Band 1/Side 1 followed by a light pop at 8.55. At 7.20 of Band 2/Side 1 there is a light pop. There is a light TICK followed by a light pop at 2.20 of Band 1/Side 2, followed by pops at 7.15 & 9.25. During Band 2/Side 2 there is a light pop at 0.20 then 6 medium/light TICKS at 0.45. At 5.00 of Band 2/Side 2 there is a medium TICK followed by a light TICK at 5.35. Then there is a pop at 7.05, a light TICK (during a loud passage) at 7.25 & 2 pops at 7.50. Overall this is without doubt the best recording of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" I have ever heard! Comes with original inner sleeve. I shall be posting more titles every Thursday for the coming weeks & I have many sought after titles in better condition than this so PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER ITEMS & SAVE ME TO YOUR LIST OF SELLERS!! All records are vacuum cleaned & placed in a brand new inner sleeve before posting. They are all listened to once in their entirety played on a new Ortofon stylus.
