Description
Musical Atlas Dahomey Bariba and Somba Music Unesco Collection 15 (EMI Odeon 3C 064-18217) gatefold original 1977 release
Recording date unknown. This, the original pressing, appears to have been made in 1977, though it is listed as a 1976 release.
This Issue: Glossy green-background front cover with, in upper-left corner, "3C" and, then, in four descending boxes, "064-18217", "EMI", the Odeon logo, and "STEREO". "dahomey", in lighter green letters, is nearer to center at top. Large, lower-case outlined "d" dominates, with colorful photos inside the outline. "Musical Atlas", in script, in two colors, is just below center. Unesco Collection logo is in lower-left corner.
Back cover has three color photos of musicians and their instruments. Upper-right corner has, in exact same formation as on front, catalog numbers and label names and logo, in same boxes. Below them is complete track list. Underneath are complete production credits, followed by titles of other recordings in the Unesco Collection series. Very bottom, right corner: "EMI Italiana S.p.A."
Inside gatefold: Essay on Dahomey history and on Bariba and Somba music, followed by expository track list - in english on left face and in french on right. One photo, of musicians, is on each face. Insert has same expository track list but in italian, with another photo.
Center Labels and Runouts:
Turquoise background has purple "S.I.A.E." stamp applied, near top. All lettering in black, with large Odeon logo above center hole. Left of hole, on four lines: "S.I.A.E." in a box, "(P) 1976", "EMI Italiana S.p.A.", and " 'Unesco Collection' ". Right of hole, on three lines: "STEREO", "3C - 064 - 18217", and "A" (or "B"). Below hole is album title and, on A, " 'BARIBA MUSIC' " and, on B, " 'SOMBA MUSIC' ". Underneath is complete track list. Below that, "Record realised with the assistance of the Rocca Foundation". Last line has EMI logo. Rights protections/restrictions are in italian, in a circle around the outer edge.

Condition of Record: NM. No spindle wear, stray mark, or blemish of any kind on either side. Record was played once. Has some dust only.
Condition of Cover: Front has no imperfections; if tilted in the light, some fingerprints and other smudges, and the barest of ringwear, is just visible. Back cover has even fewer smudges. Spine excellent; no bumps there or on any of the other corners. No shelfwear, either, on any horizontal edge. Inside gatefold, and insert, completely unmarked.
I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector.
Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination, by shipping method he chooses, and by required insurance (see: below); I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)
Insurance is mandatory on shipments to US addresses: The final price of the item determines the amount of insurance required. Please wait till I inform you of your total cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid.
**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express provides a return receipt. (Check USPS's website for shipping prices.) If you want a private-company shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction. First-Class-Package service, which doesn't include insurance, is an option; the shipping cost will be lower, but if your item doesn't arrive you have no recourse. The risk is yours.
Packing: The LP will be carefully placed in the standard cardboard LP box. Some buyers like the record removed from its jacket and placed on top of it before packing. If you want that, or have any other special instructions, please say so.
Payment: Although Ebay now processes payments directly, I also accept Paypal. I accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.
Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

N A record known to have never been played. A CD that has never been removed from its jewel case.
VG++ More handling marks than on NM but should play like new. VG+ Some wear may affect play or there may be a few minor blemishes.
VG More than a few blemishes; may have a scratch. If so, will be described in detail.
