Mussorgsky Glinka Russian Delight Ansermet UK SXL 6119
The Suisse Romande Orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet performs “Night on Bare Mountain” by Mussorgsky, “Prelude” and “Persian Dance” from “Khovanshina” by Rimsky-Korsokov, and Glinka’s “Russlan and Ludmilla Overture”, “Waltz Fantasy” and “Jota Aragonesa”. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXLA 6119 stampers) the labels have a full frequency stereo sound “fatband”and ffss logo and Made in England by… at 10 o’clock. The record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise - the recording is spectacular. The cover has rubbed a little and the laminate has begun to lift along the right-hand edge.
