This compilation of bands on the UK's Fast Product label was called Mutant Pop and it sums up the sounds of the sort of industrial meets New Wave meets touches of synth pop that permeates this whole album.
There're some classic tracks on here (some of which never made initial album releases by the bands themselves) like "Armalite Rifle" by the Gang Of Four or the brilliant pre-pop tunes stripped down Human League sounds. I also thought 2.3 were brilliant but their career seemed to die here. Never heard much beyond this. Have a listen and get back to me what you think.
And, oh yeah, the Mekons' two classics--"Never Been In A Riot" and "Where Were You?" are on here as well.
Folks, they really don't make comps like this anymore of bands on the cusp.
