Jaffa is one of the oldest port cities of the world, whose strategic location on the Silk Road, at the junction of three continents, has been visited by tens of thousands of conquerors, Egyptians and Romans, through the Crusades, the Ottoman Empire and British colonialism. With the establishment of the State of Israel and the massive and diverse waves of immigration that arrived to Jaffa, the city was painted in a wide range of cultures and customs. Among them was the culture of the taverns, which arrived from the nearby port of Greek Salonika and was embodied in dozens of taverns, where there was a live performance every night - the "Hafla".
