KAMASULTRA / KAMA KAMA ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by NANDO DE LUCA produced by ALDO PAGANO. Original Italian pressing on ELEVEN label (EL 71), from 1978. Trashy Italian disco cum hippie funk oddity from Italy featuring an intoxicating mix of influences from around the Mediterranean. Actually an obscure product placement / novelty / advertising item for the cult Kamasultra cartoon magazine / sexy fumetti series for Jacovitti & Marchesi ;) Mood music with a private press outsider feel but by an important arranger and keyboard player. Italian disco with a tropical / exotic 'je ne sais quoi' in the production seemed to be the hottest thing coming out of the Eleven label studios in '78. The Joint / Joining Together OST single by Augusto Martelli and brazilian tinged E.S.P theme by Persimfans were both recorded just a few months later ;) Strangely addictive groove to the KAMASULTRA side, played in a sleazy bump and hustle style with Pino Presti-esque disco bass / oddball horn loops / wah wah (and flashes of slick AOR guitar shredding) / blink-and-you'll-miss-it drum break / vocal shouts and afro percussion. Great for DJs with a particular sound not unlike the backdrop you would expect to hear in a discotheque / beach party scene from an Italian B-movie of the period. The KAMA KAMA side is a little more kooky (no doubt intended as a catchy jingle for RAI televison or radio air play) but still an infectious theme with wonky synthesizers by Nando that breakout midway :) This side gets surprising obsessive and spacey with looped guitars coming in and out (especially over the final phase).Dub production by Aldo Pagano aka Jujuy (the man behind the Tullio De Piscopo - Fastness 7inch). Weird artwork sleeve with erotic cartoon design too. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is in shiny VG++ condition with some hairlines and faint scuffs. Some light surface noises. One audible tick in the outer deadwax of the "Kamasultra" side right before the music starts (as you can hear on our soundclip). Booming production sound. The soft card picture sleeve is in VG++ condition overall with some creasing and corner wear in places. A few mini spots of wear to edges. Rare 45!!!
