Description

This is possibly the world's only acetate copy of Nash the slash's rarest item Hammersmith Holocaust.   When Nash the Slash replied to me in an e-mail on 28th May 2000 he said "There are fans who would kill for this LP" - so I hope you won't go that far... lol (and this was before he realised that it was the original acetate which he was unaware existed) .  However as I'm approaching my last year of a degree I've been selling all my rarest items to try and pay for a holiday before it all kicks off again.  Being a huge fan of Nash's when I was younger circa: Swing Shift (flexi version)+ I came across this album in a small advert in Record Collector, I think probably 15 years ago and have lovingly treasured it since.  When I first found Nash's sight back in 2000 I was surprised to hear about how scarce the actual album was - let alone the acetate.  As music enthusiasts we always dream of finding something truly special at a boot sale or a record fair - well in this find perhaps this was mine!    Anyway the album is housed in a paper slipcase then a white card outer with hand written text - Nash the Slash (in blue ink) small on top left (though I'm sure it's not an autograph!)   and   Nash The Slash "Hammersmith Holocaust" (12.22 mins + 18.00 mins) 2-SIDED ACETATE - 12"   written boldly in black felt pen on the front.   The album is pressed on a heavy acetate and smells like the old 78's and is just as brittle ! As this is a material that deteriorates on repeated plays (designed I believe just to proof the metal plates which eventually press the vinyl)  I have only played it twice.  Once when I recorded it onto cassette when I first bought it and a second time in 2000 capturing it on minidisc copy for posterity.  It has 5 tracks on it: Wolf / Smoke on the water / Children of the night / Baba o riley / Danger Zone.  The condition of the record appears virtually mint however crackles are audable.  None the less even now I get excited just looking at it!   The label is printed in three colours (a strawberry logo in 3 colours and text which reads 30 Strutton Ground, Westminster London S.W.1. England Tel: 01 - 222 2191 + Strawberry Mastering (U.K) Ltd. All rights etc........ A handwritten addition to the printed label curiously reads NASH THE FLASH and the album title and side lengths etc.

It's an amazing item.  Good luck all true Nash collectors - I'm passing on the batton !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll also throw in the following three Nash the Slash items free:

Decomposing 12" E.P. in virtually mint condition.

And you thought you were normal LP - Vinyl in virtually mint condition - sleeve a little worn and could do with a bit of double sided tape just to invisibly reseal top of cover which has just come away from the glue a little - but no major issue!

19th Nervous breakdown 7" / Danger Zone - Vinyl in superb condition but sleeve is pretty worn.

Following some much appreciated and rapid investigations since the auction began from the President of the UK Nash the Slash fan club (Thanks).  Nash was contacted directly to clarify whether the writing is indeed by Nash himself.  This is the reply, which Nash has sent during this auction - hence the addition to the description at this late stage:

"Hi Steve,   Tell Tim that the writing is not mine. It is probably from the engineer at the studio that mastered it.  However, it is the ONE and ONLY acetate master for the LP! Ask Tim where did he get this? This is very rare indeed.   Nash"   Thanks Nash!!!
