Exceptional collector copy of His Master’s Voice ASD 255, featuring Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major, with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Ettore Gracis.
This is one of the most desirable Michelangeli LPs on HMV ASD. Michelangeli was one of the most refined and perfectionist pianists of the 20th century, admired for his crystalline touch, extraordinary tonal control and almost architectural clarity. His discography is relatively selective, which makes major early stereo issues such as this especially attractive to collectors.
The HMV ASD series is highly regarded among classical vinyl collectors, particularly the early stereo issues. ASD 255 is a serious collector’s record, and finding a copy with both vinyl and cover preserved at this level is exceptionally difficult.
Vinyl: NM++ (Near Mint Plus Plus) Truly a “like new” record. It looks completely unplayed to me, with a pristine glossy surface and no visible marks. Superb archive-level preservation and one of the finest visual examples one could hope to find.
