NEIL YOUNG 1969 REPRISE RS 6317 RARE EARLY MIX FIRST LP

Up for auction this time is a rather rare one, the first album by NEIL YOUNG.  Reprise RS 6317. This the ORIGINAL 1969 EARLY RECALLED MIX on the Two-tone colored REPRISE RECORDS LABEL, with THE EARLIEST Matrix Numbers (No RE-1 in deadwax), and WITHOUT “NEIL YOUNG” PRINTED ON THE FRONT COVER ARTWORK. very hard to find in the beautiful condition offered here.  This early first pressing is known as containing the original mix of four songs that would later be remixed, and those later LPs have RE-1" in the deadwax.  This is that rare early mastering, with no RE-1.   The deluxe gatefold "First Pressing Sleeve", thick American style and printed in the USA is in very good condition.   This is the rare issue which does not have the "NEIL YOUNG” titled on front of cover. The front and back covers have no writing, the seams are not split, and there is some faint surface wear in front keeping this from Near Mint Condition.  There are just the faintest bits of wear to the corners. The spine is clean and shows no wear or splits.  This is an exceptional example of this extremely rare FIRST PRESSING LP and COVER.      The 1969 vintage pressed LP retains all of it's original lustre, and is visually in Near Mint- condition, with just a few light surface marks keeping this LP from being Mint.  I have play graded this LP tonight on a high end turntable to confirm that vinyl plays flawlessly as it should.  There is no handling wear on vinyl surfaces, only the few trace marks metioned, clean vinyl that has no dust or finger prints, it sparkles like an LP that has been played very few times.   A better looking or playing copy of this LP would be very hard to find!!    Complete with the original 60s era Reprise inner sleeve, LP is kept in an additional rice paper lined inner.    The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.     On his songs for Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young had demonstrated an eclecticism that ranged from the rock of "Mr. Soul" to the complicated, multi-part arrangement of "Broken Arrow." On his debut solo album, he continued to work with composer/arranger Jack Nitzsche, with whom he had made "Expecting to Fly" on the Buffalo Springfield Again album, and together the two recorded a restrained effort on which the folk-rock instrumentation, most of which was by Young, overdubbing himself, was augmented by discreet string parts. The country & western elements that had tinged the Springfield's sound were also present, notably on the leadoff track, "The Emperor of Wyoming," an instrumental that recalled the Springfield song "A Child's Claim to Fame." Still unsure of his voice, Young sang in a becalmed high tenor that could be haunting as often as it was listless and whining. He was at his least appealing on the nine-and-a-half-minute closing track, "The Last Trip to Tulsa," on which he accompanied himself with acoustic guitar, singing an impressionistic set of lyrics seemingly derived from Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited. But double-tracking and the addition of a female backup chorus improved the singing elsewhere, and on "The Loner," the album's most memorable track, Young displayed some of the noisy electric guitar work that would characterize his recordings with Crazy Horse and reminded listeners of his ability to turn a phrase. Still, Neil Young made for a low-key introduction to Young's solo career, and when released it was a commercial flop, his only album not to make the charts. (Several months after the album's release, Young remixed it to bring out his vocals more and added some overdubs).
