A SUPERB COPY OF NEIL YOUNG'S CLASSIC. STILL MY FAVOURITE NY LP IF PURELY FOR SENTIMENTAL REASONS AS ITS THE FIRST OF HIS ALBUMS I BOUGHT NEW
Neil Young's most popular album, Harvest employs a number of different styles. Much of it is country-tinged, although there is also an acoustic track, a couple of electric guitar-drenched rock performances, and two songs on which Young is accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra. But the album does have an overall mood and an overall lyric content, and they conflict with each other: the mood is melancholic, but the songs mostly describe the longing for and fulfillment of new love. Young's concerns are perhaps most explicit on the controversial "A Man Needs a Maid," which contrasts the fears of committing to a relationship with simply living alone and hiring help. Over and over, he sings of the need for love in such songs as "Out on the Weekend," "Heart of Gold," and "Old Man" and it's the love songs and the harrowing portrait of a friend's descent into heroin addiction, "The Needle and the Damage Done," which remain among Young's most affecting and memorable songs.
Track Listing:
Side 1: Out On The Weekend / Harvest / A Man Needs A Maid / Heart Of Gold / Are You Ready For The Country
Side 2: Old Man / There's A Word / Alabama / The Needle And The Damage Done / Words
LABELS: The TAN, GROOVED Reprise labels (with "Made In The UK" text and WB logo, so it was probably pressed around 1975) are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO wear, NO writing and only a couple of (very) light spindle traces. I WOULD GUESS THIS COPY HAS BEEN PLAYED A HANDFUL OF TIMES AT MOST
VINYL Visual: The vinyl has a DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN and the surfaces are UNMARKED
VINYL Audio: SUPERB DELIVERY - CRYSTAL CLEAR, WARM and RICH SOUND. There are NO scratches, NO jumps, NO sticks and barely any surface noise (really, hardly any). The sound quality is simply SUPERB and the LP plays to an impressively high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion (its hardly been played) and must be very critically graded EXCELLENT+ for audio. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The ORIGINAL, ROUGH TEXTURED gatefold cover is also SUPERB. CLEAN, BRIGHT, FRESH and SHARP with little wear to speak of - NO marks, NO surface scuffing, NO discolouration, NO edge wear and only the smallest 'bump' to the bottom spine corner. The textured nature of the sleeve makes it very prone to wear and marking/discolouration - BUT NOT THIS ONE. The spine is straight and true with all text SHARP and CLEAR. A BEAUTIFUL example of this easily worn sleeve
INSERT: The gatefold lyric insert is also in BEAUTIFUL condition. FRESH, CRISP and UNMARKED and practically AS-NEW
