Description
This auction is for 4 Never Played Beatles 45 RPM 7” Vinyl records, 3 Singles & 1 EP (Extended Play). This includes the 4 picture sleeves and the 4 associated records.
None of these records have ever been played. And since I got them almost 30 years ago, the picture sleeves and the records have been stored in separate protective sleeves. Even so, it is not uncommon for the picture sleeve to show some wear or minor rough handling before I got them. I will try to make issues visible in the pictures and I will try to mention issues in the descriptions below. But please keep in mind that these records and picture sleeves were not produced and handled (before I got them) as valuable collector items. So it is quite common to see usually minor issues with most picture sleeves.
The records:
Beatles single: Real Love; Baby’s in Black. During shipment from the manufacturer, the record pushed through one side of the picture sleeve causing a separation between the front and the back. To me this split is not visible while the picture sleeve is stored in the protective sleeve. It can be sceen by removing the picture sleeve from the protective sleeve and opening the picture sleeve where the record slides in. Then on the other side of the picture sleeve, you can see the split. A picture is included. UPC 724385854477
Beatles single: Love Me Do; P.S. I Love You. No UPC on picture sleeve.
Beatles EP: Baby It’s You; I’ll Follow the Sun; Devil In Her Heart; Boys. UPC 724385834875
Beatles single: Free as a Bird; Christmas Time (Is Here Again). This picture does have some wrinkling which I hope is visible in the pictures. In addition there is a price sticker for $4.00 on the front of the picture sleeve. UPC 724385849770
Beatles Real Love
US version. In nearly perfect condition. Never played. Picture sleeve and record have been stored in separate protective sleeves for nearly 30 years. This is a vinyl 45 RPM record with small center hole. The songs are Free As A Bird and Christmas Time is Here Again. Catalog number: 7243 8 58497 7 0
From the back of the picture sleeve: Free As A Bird was recorded by John Lennon in demo form but never finished, and in 1994 the tape was entrusted to Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The outcome is an elevation of the simple beauty of John’s original demo to a much higher level. Jeff Lynne, co-producer of the recording, modestly remarks, “It was tricky, but I think we’ve pulled it off.”
Also from the sleeve: From 1963 to 1969 the Beatles gave members of their official fan club a special gift at Christmas, a record unavailable elsewhere. The 1967 disc was titled Christmas Time (Is Here Again) and extracts from a song of that name were scattered among the sketches. Issued here for the first time is an uninterrupted recording of the number. Superimposed near the end are some spoken word seasonal greetings taped in 1966 followed by a John Lennon pastiche.
