How is it that I can offer an unplayed jazz album that’s been around for 60 years? Well, it was unearthed at the Hart record auction. For those of you who don’t know, Hart Callender ran a couple of St. Paul record stores until he was incapacitated in 1951. On his instructions, the entire inventory was locked up until his passing in 1996. The next year, the lot was sold to Smith Auction and went under the gavel. This record, along with about a quarter of a million others, traded hands that Labor Day weekend.
The one you’re looking at is called “Nat King Cole At the Piano”, Capitol #CC-135 ©1949. It consists of three (3) 10” diameter, 78 rpm records numbered 10189, 10190 and 10191. The sides are “These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)”, “Cole Capers”, “Three Little Words”, “I’ll Never Be the Same”, “Blues In My Shower” and “How High the Moon”. The delightful album folder is VG+ because of some corner and edge wear. Otherwise, pristine condition throughout. Remember, these are virginal, unplayed records.
