NEW Hoyt Axton - Thunder 'N Lightnin' (Vinyl LP WP 1613)
On his second album for Horizon, Hoyt Axton was still tied to his folksinger/blues roots, singing several traditional standards as well as three of his own compositions. At this time in his career the influences of Lightning Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Blind Man Blake and the Reverend Gary Davis were still fresh. The liner notes convey the feel, "a true folk talent," "tremendous vitality and drive," "most believable." Axton's raw talent is nicely showcased here.
