Description
Available here is a 10" vinyl one-sided record by New Order - Waiting For The Siren’s Call (Mash Up). Issued in the UK by Zzonked in 2005, it’s a limited edition white label promo. No official catalogue number but PR 015496 etched into the inner circle of the disc with SR·PROMO·1·A scratched out just below.
Record Condition - Mint - The playing side is spotless and there are no scratches or marks. Having listened all the way through I can confirm that there is no jumping, sticking or clicks, with no background crackle or hiss. The plain reverse side has one or two minute marks.
Sleeve Condition - Excellent - Original plain white die-cut sleeve with "N.O." written in black felt-tip pen on one side (as issued). Has light wear/disc impression marks. Comes with a folded A4 publicity sheet. There is also an additional stout outer white card sleeve giving additional protection but probably not original. Large pictures of both sides of the disc and sleeve are available on request.
History - Taken from the album of the same name, it is described within the accompanying literature as an "ultra-limited promo only" release. Extremely rare, it would also seem that only 100 of these records were produced.
The music comprises a DJ Mix of the main vocal/instrumental section of the Waiting For The Sirens' Call single, with samples from numerous other New Order tracks mixed around it. These apparently include Bizarre Love Triangle (Extended Dance Mix), Shellshock, The Beach, Thieves Like Us Instrumental, Face Up, True Faith, Sub-Culture and Confusion.
Peter Hook explained in a February 2006 NME interview that this Mash Up was due to appear as the b-side to the then highly anticipated Turn single but nothing (including the single itself) was ever released.
