The New Orleans music world lost one of its greats recently. More importantly, rock and roll lost one of its architects, truly one of the first! Credit is given to everyone from Elvis and Little Richard to Chuck Berry and Bill Haley, but down here in Louisiana, we KNOW who really started it all....and that's Fats Domino! (RIP Fats. We will miss your talent, and your love!)

Domino passed away a few days ago, peacefully and quietly, at the age of 89. It's now time to take a look at New Orleans music, and the wealth of talent we've had, now have, and will, no doubt, have in the future!

I'll start by saying 15% of the winning bid will go to Fats' favorite charity, the Tipitina' Foundation, 25% if the bid gets over $100! Tipitina’s Foundation supports Louisiana and New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and preserves the state’s unique musical cultures. A great and worthy cause!

Fats' first record label was Imperial Records. The first singles were on "acetate" records, 10" in size. (There was actually no acetate in the manufacturing, but the name stuck.) This thing is VERY heavy and thick! Records are made a lot different now, and have, since the 60s. In this great bundle of NOLA music and goodies, I'll include the 10" acetate of "Bo Weevil", from 1956! That ALONE is worth the price of this amazing collection, but we're nowhere near being done! I'll include an LP of the good doctor, Dr. John's fine 2012 effort 'Locked Down', produced by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, still sealed and never opened or played! (That album comes with a CD of the same.) You'll also get a 7" record of Allen Toussaint, and his great carnival song "Mr. Mardi Gras"!

On to the first family of New Orleans music, the Neville Brothers... you'll get a copy of 'Yellow Moon', one of their best, and produced by Daniel Lanois (more on him later)! From the 'Family Groove' album, I'll include the CD maxi-single of EIGHT versions of their remake of "Fly Like an Eagle", the old Steve Miller Band classic! This was a promo only item!! You'll also get Aaron Neville's 1997 stellar CD, titled '....To Make Me Who I Am', as well as TWO discs from the godfather of N'awlins funk and r&b, Cyril Neville, and in mint condition! I'll kick in 2009's 'Brand New Blues', AND 2013's 'Magic Honey', both still sealed!

From '94, Harry Connick Jr. is included with 'She', as well as a compilation of New Orleans party classics! This one features Dr. John, Fats Domino, the Neville Brothers, Professor Longhair, Al Johnson, and more! The last disc in this massive collection is Daniel Lanois, and the Goldtop Edition of 'Acadie'! Now Lanois is not from New Orleans or even Louisiana, but he IS from Canada, so that's ok! But it's the actual album and the amazing musicians he has playing on it that is so cool: Cyril, Art, and Aaron Neville all appear, as well as bassist extraordinaire Tony Hall! (Lanois has many guests on this great album, including U2's Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.!) It's the special Goldtop Edition, which adds extra tracks!

The 10" is old, and may not even play well. You would need a turntable with 78RPM speed anyway, to play it. The Dr. John LP is still sealed. The 7" looks new, all shiny and clean! The used discs have all been tested, and play fine, but may have a couple of light surface marks. The other CDs are still sealed. Grab your chance to own a piece of music history, with a vintage 10" acetate single from Fats Domino, as well as an awesome bundle of Louisiana artists that will have you dancing and make you smile, (plus you're helping out a good cause with Tipitina's Foundation)!
