NEXT “Dusty Shoes” 1971 Canadian hard Psych Rock in SHRINK

1971/Canada/Warner Bros. Records WSC 9009….. here’s a nice original pressing of this great Canadian hard psych rock lp with gushing organ and ripping guitar. The textured cover is in the shrink and in M- condition with no splits or delete. There is a bit of an old store sticker on the shrink. The vinyl is in glossy VG+ condition with just some light scuffs/scratches, the record plays great with light crackle at cue and between tracks. There is a bit of light occasional noise here and there in softer parts and there are two pops between the second and third track on side two where there is a light 1" scratch that makes a few light ticks into the third track. Overall the record plays great and plays with clean fidelity. A solid copy! Please check my auctions for other prog, psych and rock lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Winnipeg's Next were an offshoot of regional heroes The Fifth. After a fairly successful run of singles in Canada, The Fifth split in 1970 with several members of the band defecting to other acts in the region. One such product of the split was Next. The band were quickly able to secure a contract with Warner Brothers and by late 1971, "Dusty Shoes" was released. With somewhat limited exposure and very poor distribution, the album sank without a trace and Next were history by the end of 1973. Members would later turn up in The Guess Who, Harlequin and The Litter.

"Dusty Shoes" is very much typical of the era from which it sprang. Overall, it's tastefully arranged organ/guitar driven pseudo hard rock that recalls Grand Funk Railroad quite a bit in places. With the soulfully gritty vocals of George Belanger, everything here has an edge which makes much of the material here sound harder than it actually is. That subtle dynamic is what carries most of this album and makes it a truly satisfying listen. Check out this obscure offering from Next.

///GRADING///

MINT: as stated with no defects

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition.
