Description

IN early 1914, MAXIM'S CABARET SINGERS whoop it up in studio-recreated Paris, in a lively "NIGHT SCENE IN MAXIM'S," with corks popping, champagne flowing, spontaneous choruses, and oodles of oo-la-la flat out drunken revelry until one in the Ayem!  All due respect to crack scenarist J. L. Van Der Mehden, Jr., but the wind-beneath-the-wings of this side is the full-slate medley of rowdy, raggy Irving Berlin songs!

THE PEERLESS QUARTET on the flip, continue in the same pedal-to-the-metal Maxim's mode, in a full side given over to Berlin's "THIS IS THE LIFE."

This party came to a screeching halt only a few months later, with the commencement of World War I! A priceless time capsule of  High-Class Ante-Bellum Whoopee!

This original 1914 "Big Notes" Columbia A1509 is in sturdy EE- condition.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
