Original 1967 first pressing of a great West Coast happening sound...hear the Jefferson Airplane formula....
The PEANUT BUTTER CONSPIRACY formed in Los Angeles in 1966 out of a folk-rocker group, The Ashes, who included John Merrill (guitar/ vocals), Alan Brackett (bass/ vocals), Barbara "Sandi" Robison (vocals), Spencer Dryden (drums) and Jim Cherniss (guitar/ vocals). Soon Spencer Dryden then left The Ashes to replace Skip Spence in Jefferson Airplane.
The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, a Hollywood based group (not San Francisco) was one of the top groups on the West Coast at the time of these lps (1967 - 68), at least in personal appearances, often booked with groups thought today to have been the top artists of the time, such as the Doors, Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf, etc. Because of a better review than the Jefferson Airplane received in New Jersey, Bill Graham said "no more gigs with Peanut Butter" and the group was kept out of west-coast packages, Woodstock, the Monterey Festival and that had a lot to do with what kept them from the big time. They were an underground hippie group and did not have the proper people behind them to compete, a story told over and over again in the music business. They did get a lot of airplay, scoring the excellent local California hit "It's A happening Thing" ....Sandi Robison has a beautiful voice and the group was very good instrumentally and vocally....and this music is very typical of the times with female & male harmonies and cool vibes, strong original songs.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: near "EX" (excellent) the front and back panels are very clean, especially the front group cover having still great colors, the spine has some light wear and minor reason for downgrade. Still a scarce collection copy having no seam splits, no bends, no writing, no delete marks, and really only very light visual use.
The vinyl: full of shine over both sides ~ Rated: M- bright and clean and play graded superb = enjoyable. Both 360 Sound labels are clean
