Pre-EMI Basing Street pressing in

NEAR MINT CONDITION!!

There has been much confusion between this original first pressing and the later 1972 issue with a very similar label design. The only way to tell the two apart is the minor label differences.

The later issue has the timings of the songs in brackets and the text Island Records Ltd on the right hand side of the label next to the publishing date while this first issue has the song timings left open (no brackets). The later issue also has Joe Boyds production credit printed on two lines rather than just the one and removes the stereo notation.

On offer here is a VERY rare LP by Nick Drake called "Bryter Layter" and is an ORIGINAL 1970 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press Island Pink Rim label!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND SIMPLY THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1970 UK 1ST PRESSING ON THE 1ST PRESS ISLAND LABEL, 1ST PRESS INNER SLEEVE, , AND 1ST PRESS COVER!!!! This is the ORIGINAL UK 1970 1st Pressing and is in STUNNING condition!!!! The Cat. No is ILPS 9134 on the ORIGINAL 1st Press Island label (see picture) and is a Stereo 1st pressing

The record labels are in VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing NO spindle marks AT ALL!!!!

IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THIS RECORD HAS BARELY BEEN PLAYED AT ALL!!!! The vinyl is in STUNNING condition!!!! It is also great to find that the playing of the record is as STUNNING as the visual!!!! It plays with NO pops, only 3 or 4 ULTRA light clicks (from the TINY hairline), NO jumps, NO sticks, and barely ANY crackle AT ALL!!!! The sound quality is simply AWESOME with NO distortion and NO groovewear either!!!! The record must grade Very Good++++ if not better

The record has a glossy appearance, lays 100% flat on the turntable and has no warping

Labels

The pink rim Island labels are in EXCELLENT condition. The spindle hole shows no wear .No spindle Marks!. The labels are graded Excellent

Cover

The EJ Day cover is non-laminated and extremely prone to excessive wear as anyone who has been looking for this album will know only too well!

This one has fared ok. The textured front has no wear or rubbing and is in excellent condition. The fragile textured rear sleeve similarly has no wear or rubbing and is excellent. The thin spine has some storage damage, one to the top for 2 cms and one or two light spots further down. All of the spine text is illegible [see picture before bidding!!]

Inner Sleeve

The inner is the correct light blue “Basing Street” Island inner sleeve and is in excellent condition with no seam splits or tears.
