NICK DRAKE - PINK MOON
Rare and highly sought after 1972 UK 1st pressing, sparingly played with excellent sound quality
Year/Label : 1972 UK ISLAND Label number : ILPS 9184 Matrix numbers : ILPS 9184 A - 1U, ILPS 9184 B - 1U Stampers : 1 M / 1 PVery good plus (VG+) - I am sure that many would grade as "excellent" - condition vinyl - completely flat, weighty and retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen, coming across as unmarked in normal daylight. Very close inspection under a bright light reveals just the occasional extremely light paper scuff and tiny scuff mark on each side along with a couple of slightly more obvious but still small and very faint scuff lines - each is non-feelable, appearing to be surface only and purely superficial. The labels are in excellent plus condition with just a few small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each. Clearly this is a record that has been only sparingly played. Very good plus (VG+) - again, bordering on "excellent" - condition non-laminated Tinsley Robor outer gatefold sleeve with firm, unscuffed edges (just the occasional tiny and very light "nick") including a rigid spine where all spine text remains fully intact. Each corner remains a perfectly defined right angle with no rubbing at all and the opening edges are rigid with no fraying at all. The only blemishes are a few barely noticeable 1-2 cm surface crinkles adjacent and perpendicular to the front side bottom edge and spine (same on reverse side), an 11cm surface crinkle towards the top right corner on the reverse side (I have tried to capture this in my photos though it is very faint), some very mild ring wear on the reverse side towards the bottom edge, and just a few small and extremely light handling/storage marks. Each of these blemishes is very minor and the interior of the gatefold remains hard to fault. Such a beautiful, iconic sleeve with all of the colours, wonderful art work and interior lyrics/notes remaining vibrant and with great clarity and definition, making this copy eminently presentable. Hard to believe that this copy is now 53 years of age. Overall excellent (EX) stereo sound quality throughout with no sticks, skips, repeats, obvious clicks or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - very, very occasional and very, very light and background. There is some very minor, non-obvious intermittent split-second of background crackle during the last minute of "ROAD" which continues for about two minutes into "WHICH WILL", and again on side 2 just the odd very low level and non-intrusive nano-second of crackle...nothing really and certainly not impinging upon what is a great listen for every single track on this iconic LP, and I am sure that a professional clean would eradicate even these very minor aberrations. Wonderful tone throughout with Nick Drake's velvety vocals and unique acoustics crystal clear throughout. Comes with nice condition original light blue, poly-lined Island inner sleeve, complete with the pink "i" and "basing street" text on each side and with no side splits or age discolouration or edge fraying - just some very minor surface creasing and the hint of some minor age discolouration towards the top edges. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. Scarce 1972 UK 1st press and highly sought after Nick Drake rarity - becoming very hard to find now, especially in condition as truly impressive as this.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
