NICK DRAKE Pink Moon (Island ILPS 9184) RARE A1/B1 'Orange' UK 2nd Pressing EX+
RARE UK second pressing of Nick Drake`s swan song "Pink Moon" on Island Records (February 1972). This second pressing with orange-rimmed Island Records labels was issued in early 1976. A rarity in their own right, even well-kept second pressings are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
"The motivation of success had evaporated and Drake made a record so singular and uncompromising that, superficially, it beggars belief ... The truth is that Pink Moon's excellence shines through, irrespective of the endless speculation regarding Drake's frame of mind during the making of the record and subsequent death. Few records have ever sounded so intimate, or embodied the eternal human ailment known as Melancholy with such grace and assurance." - Q Magazine, August 2000.
GRADING:
VG+ COVER with some all-round wear. Please see photos for details.
- Unlaminated original UK gatefold sleeve with a fair amount of handling wear.
- Scuffing to top and bottom edges, as well as to the corners.
- Five or six creases to the spine, front and back.
- Small name ("Moni") written on front sleeve in blue ink (within moon, at bottom).
- The back cover states "Printed in England by Robor Limited" (at bottom right).
- Includes a new polylined black inner sleeve.

EX RECORD, well-played but overall nicely taken care of.
- Some signs of use on both sides, with near-impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- Record with visible general hairlining from sleeve removal, as well as a few superficial scuffs. Absolutely no audible scratches!
- When carefully viewed under strong light, the record has a tiny nick (less than 1mm long) at the beginning of "Horn". The nick is absolutely inaudible.
- Second-pressing "orange rim" Island Records labels with a fair amount of spindle wear on both sides.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "ILPS 9184 A - 1 U" and  "ILPS 9184 B - 1 U". 
- Mothers/Stampers: "2 / -" on Side One and "2 / -" on Side Two. 
- This copy of "Pink Moon" is certified to be a second "orange-rimmed" Island Records UK pressing, issued in early 1976.
