Description

 NICK DRAKE - PINK MOON

Original UK 1972 12" LP very first pressing on the "pink rim" ISLAND label, ILPS 9184

Matrix Numbers :  Side 1  ILPS 9184 A - 1U  Side 2   ILPS 9184 B - 1U

A scarce and highly sought after very 1st pressing of this 1972 UK folk gem in overall excellent condition.

The appearance of both sides of the vinyl is excellent with most of the original beautiful lacquered sheen still intact and all grooves still perfectly defined and visible. Held at the right angle and in a bright light you can detect some strictly surface only spider lines and paper scuffs, but there's nothing here that is beneath the surface or that detracts from the overall excellent audio quality or, indeed, the impressive appearance in normal daylight. Lovely!

The labels are clean and virtually unmarked apart from a couple of spindle traces on each side which are just visible adjacent to the centre hole.

The quality of the audio is excellent+: great tone and clarity with no distortion, even at high volume. No skips, jumps, or loud clicks...during the quieter moments it is possible to detect, just, some occasional and very minor background crackle but this is very sporadic. Similarly with the very occasional light "pop" but upon close inspection I have to put this down to either static or a small accumulation of dust in the grooves due to 40+ years of storage. Actually, I played this album all the way through and the audio quality was excellent, I then carefully cleaned it and played it again and the audio quality was then even better. A great listen!

The track listing is :

Side 1:

1. PINK MOON

2. PLACE TO BE

3. ROAD

4. WHICH WILL

5. HORN

6. THINGS BEHIND THE SUN

Side 2 :

1. KNOW

2. PARASITE

3. RIDE

4. HARVEST BREED

5. FROM THE MORNING

The iconic matt gatefold outer sleeve is in overall excellent condition, with excellent definition on all of the edges and corners and all artwork, with it's rich, vibrant colouring, still completely intact - wonderful. There is some minor storage scuffing, however, most noticeable on the bottom edges, the on each of the spine ends/corners, and intermittently on the spine itself, which I have tried to show in my photos. There is also the merest hint of a thin, horizontal scuff line part way across the front cover (see photo). No major blemishes here, however, and all writing is perfectly legible, there is no unwanted writing, and the inside of the gatefold is a joy to behold - a truly iconic gatefold.

Comes complete with original white protective inner.

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

If this record interests you then take a look at my other listings for more 60's and 70's classic vinyl.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for more than 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but over the years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boots, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I never intended selling any of my records but now I am retired and a combination of space requirements, (caused partly by duplication) and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems. My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in removing the record from the outer sleeve in order to prevent sleeve damage in transit. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. For this item postage & packaging will be Royal Mail 1st class, signed and tracked (internationally tracked if necessary) : UK £6, continental Europe £10, and Rest of the World £14 (Russia = Rest of the World, by the way). I do discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. Good luck with your bidding. Richard
