Singer-songwriter Nick Drake has had an enduring cult following for well over 30 years now, with new fans falling in love with his intricate guitar work, introspective songs and understated English voice. All the more poignant then that on his death in November 1974 aged 26 Drake's talent was largely unrecognised. Drake's first album , Five Leaves Left (the message near the end of a pack of Rizla papers) was a remarkably accomplished work. The beauty of Drake's sound lay in the intimacy of his voice and the exceptional confidence and clarity of his guitar playing. He had not turned 21 years old when this superb album was released.

VINYL.... overall VG+ ...it was fully play-checked prior to auction. Playing surfaces have a fresh, bright, glossy sheen to them. Several faint hairlines and a few very light cosmetic surface marks.  There are no deep scratches . Plays well with some mild static-like surface noise in places and a couple of one-off moderate pops noted on the entire album.  There are no skips, no jumps , no serious or repetitive clicks/ticks.  Both labels are clean with light spindle traces.   

COVER....VG ....the single pocket cover has general light wear to corners and edges. Spine text slightly rubbed in centre, otherwise fine. The pocket opening edge has 1cm nick/tear . Small stain the size of a 5p coin on back.   Plain white inner sleeve .

Comes in a protective polythene sleeve/cover.

Record Gradings

Mint = unplayed, undamaged, possibly still sealed in shrinkwrap. Accompanying booklet, lyric sheet or poster should be perfect. Should play without fault.

Excellent = played but very well cared for, may have some hairlines or paper grazes on playing surface but none which are significantly audible although perhaps the occasional micro-noise similar to static may be present. Cover may have very light general wear or crease/light corner fold but no rips/splits.

Very Good = Played many times but plays well without major deterioration in sound quality. playing surfaces may have some marks and the occasional light scratch which will be no mare than lightly audible in parts. Cover and paper contents may have general signs of usage and storage without significant damage.

Good = Heavily played with noticeable surface marks and/or scratches which will be audible, possibly throughout. No skips or jumps despite the prescence of some crackles, clicks and pops. Cover and paper contents may have heavy creases, edge scuffs, stains, annotations, splits and discolouration.
