NICO CHELSEA GIRL
ORIGINAL 1967 copy in Original Shrink Wrap NEAR-MINT COVER
1967 USA MONO release
Released on VERVE catalogue number V-5032
COVER CONDITION: The cover is in excellent near-mint condition, remarkably still in its original shrink wrap with the price sticker attached (to the shrink). The shrink wrap is neatly opened on the right side as you can see in the provided images. There’s no glaringly obvious visible fault to the cover. All the corners are good with no bumps. An embossed X can be seen on the lower right hand corner, this can also be seen pressed through onto the back cover. This dates back to the 60s when embossing covers with an X would indicate it was a promotional copy or discounted overstock. Given its age it’s really quite incredible to see a copy that looks so beautiful. A rare thing and quite wonderful that it survived looking so perfect for so long.
INNER SLEEVE CONDITION: This original Verve records innersleeve is in good clean condition with some creasing as you can see in the provided images. An embossed X can be seen in the lower corner.
VINYL CONDITION:A lovely clean looking copy with great clear vivid sound throughout. There are some faults which I've tried my best to detail for you. At the start of the record on FAIREST OF THE SEASONS 10 rhythmic pops can be heard. A faint rhythmic hiss can be heard in the background throughout THESE DAYS, LITTLE SISTER and WINTERSONG, and a few minor pops/crackles in LITTLE SISTER, but none of this is greatly intrusive – once the songs are going it’s easy to focus on the music. IT WAS A PLEASURE THEN has some low-level background hiss and some occasional faint crackling. CHELSEA GIRL has a few faint crackles dotted throughout and two pops at the start of flute break, plus three or so random ones occurring after that. There’s a light rhythmic hiss towards the end of I’LL KEEP IT WITH MINE leading into SOMEWHERE THERE’S A FEATHER, this track and WRAP YOUR TROUBLES IN DREAMS are both very good though. EULOGY TO LENNY BRUCE has just some faint crackles/pops at the very end, otherwise it’s also very good. As I said, the sound is lovely and vivid, and to look at it’s a fantastic clean-looking record. These listed issues vary from turntable to turntable of course so please keep that in mind.
