Description

NIRVANA - BLEACH - ORIGINAL 1989 2nd PRESSING, BLACK VINYL.  VINYL STRONG VG+, SLEEVE VG+ (NO INSERTS)
2nd pressing of Bleach by Nirvana from 1989.  Released by Sub Pop as catalog SP 34, the 2nd pressing on black vinyl was a run of only 2,000 copies following the initial press on white vinyl.  This pressing shares the same outer sleeve as the 1st and 3rd pressings - there is no barcode on back and Jason Everman is credited on guitar despite not actually playing on the album.  Vocals and guitar are credited to "Kurdt Kobain" and Chad Channing is credited on drums.  The subject album is Discogs release # r2499473.  Side A matrix runouts are: "SP-34-A Kdisc ch L.32926"  Side B matrix runouts are:  "SP-34-B Kdisc ch L.3296̶ 26.X"
Sleeve rating is VG+.  The sleeve maintains its original gloss on both sides and shows ordinary signs of corner and edgewear over the years but overall is in excellent shape.  Close-up pictures of all corners, front and back, are provided above.  There is some corner softening and a bit of edgewear.  The front shows de minimis ring wear at the very top and bottom which is not very noticeable unless you're looking for it.  The back shows slightly more ring wear mostly pronounced in the upper half of the sleeve.  Overall the sleeve is in very good condition with glossy covers, strong seams/spines with not much wear and some corner softening which is most pronounced on the bottom two corners.  There is a generic white inner sleeve but disc will ship in an audiophile sleeve.  Unfortunately there are no inserts included with this copy, if there ever were they've been lost to time.
Vinyl is in immaculate condition and rating is based on play testing, not sight rating.  The labels are pristine, flat and devoid of markups or wear.  The vinyl looks perfect under normal light/angles.  Under bright light there are light surface marks and some hairlines on each side but they have no impact on play based on my test.  My general rule of thumb would be to call this Strong VG+ because it is a used disc, but it truly plays close to NM condition.  I hear absolutely no surface, static or background noise on Side A and there are no other deficiencies.  Side B plays exactly the same.  Just pure, crisp, clear Nirvana.  I am playing on my secondary turntable (Pro Ject T1 manual) with a stock glass disc platter (with GEM Dandy anti-static slipmat) and stock tonearm.  The cartridge and needle/stylus are upgraded to lower mid-level (Sumiko Wellfleet) and a vinyl weight is used.  A Parasound Zphono preamp is used instead of the turntable's built-in preamp.  The disc is very level in rotation, not perfectly flat but pretty close to it.  The disc has been ultrasonically cleaned and hand-clean finished afterward.
Great opportunity to pick up an early pressing of Nirvana's first album in phenomenal condition.  Any questions or additional information requests, please just ask.  Thank you for looking/reading.
