June 1989 original 2nd PRESSING from the limited edition of 2000 copies pressed!

THE COPY LISTED HERE IS GUARANTEED TO BE A SECOND PRESSING FROM 1989.
SUB POP RECORDS PRESSED A LIMITED AMOUNT OF 2000 BLACK VINYL LPs.
Those were pressed AFTER the initial white vinyl pressing of 1000 copies.
MEANING THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE FIRST 3000 COPIES THAT SUB POP PRESSED, BEFORE THEY HANDED OFF THE OPERATION TO ERIKA RECORDS, WHO PUMPED OUT OODLES OF DIFFERENT COLORS/PRESSINGS/EDITIONS.
One of only 3000 copies pressed by Sub Pop Records from the original tapes.
This copy DOES NOT have a poster or an insert.  The seller informed us that he couldn't remember there ever being anything inside, and he was the original buyer of the LP when it came out in 1989.  If you require other information or detailed photographs of any part of the cover or record labels, just send us your request in the "ask seller a question" area.  We'll be glad to take a shot of anything you need to see.

(it's been played, and has some light scuffs or lines, but nothing that skips or pops, and is a great listening copy.  If you don't own this on vinyl, you will DEFINITELY appreciate having the original mix from the first three thousand copies of this record that Sub Pop pressed.  I think there's a difference in the first white copies, this edition of 2000, and the ones that followed)

(It only has a couple of very minor edge and/or corner dings.  No seam splits, tears, rips, etc.  Very slight wear, meaning a couple of tiny lines & creases.  At the very least it's EX.  Probably would grade a little higher than that with most anyone you shove it in front of, but we like to grade conservatively and low so you'll be happy and surprised.)

(the number listed above, etched in the matrix on the vinyl of Side B, is actually supposed to be the same number, 32926, as the A-side, but someone made a mistake with the first number 6, so it is scratched out.  Meaning, the number 329626 is etched into the vinyl, but the person who did it scratched over the first 6 in that series of numbers.  So it's a 2000 copy mistake, kind of.  It actually reads 329-BLOB-26.  Well, you know what I'm saying.  It doesn't say the damned word "BLOB".  You can tell there's a 6 there, but it's been scrawled over like someone scratching over their homework that they did with an ink pen, so it's the number 6 with a kind of circular scratching over it, though it's still quite visible)

This is one of the holy grail collectibles of early Sub Pop Records releases.
I don't think we need to go into the history of how important NIRVANA ended up being to the bank accounts of everyone involved.
Those smart, old, or lucky enough to have purchased an original white vinyl 1st pressing (me, thank you, thank you) are generally very happy with themselves.  Smug and self-satisfied.  But once it grew in popularity and sold out, this limited repress (before the Erika pressings) of 2000 copies has ended up being nearly as valuable and/or important a collectible piece.
Either way, you're looking at an important Nirvana piece , now 20 YEARS OLD!

The first pressing was of 1000 on white vinyl.  Some of these came with posters.  The second pressing was of 2000 on black vinyl.  Most of these came with posters.  Some others came with giant letter-size Sub Pop Singles Club ads.  Some copies didn't have any secret prize inside. These things actually affect the price.  The black ones with posters generally go in the $150-$170 range.  Those with inserts sell for $80-$90, and the ones with neither generally go in the $70-$80 range.

REMOVE THE VINYL RECORDS FROM THEIR SLEEVES & LAY THEM DOWN ON A SURFACE TO DISPLAY THEM.
We're rather amazed when we take the care that we do with the vinyl we sell, and then see another seller make more money selling the exact same item
in worse shape, and their picture shows the record out of its cover and out of its sleeve lying on a surface!  I believe the "problem" is that we try to describe every item
in detail so that you'll know exactly what you're getting.  Many sellers will simply say "excellent" "mint" or "great", having no idea what those terms mean in relation to the Goldmine Grading System.  We tell you exactly what you're getting, and even if it's been to hell and back, we still treat it like it's a piece of your mother.  Sometimes it's the detail that screws things up, I think.  If we were vague, like most sellers, you'd just see the name of the band, the title, and a picture, and you'd buy it.  Oh well.

Many sellers seem to have a disregard for the items they're selling and only care about making their pictures look pretty.  We only care about the pieces we sell.  And you.  So you'll see that the records are displayed IN THEIR ORIGINAL SLEEVES, with just a hint of the vinyl showing so that you can see what color they are.  If you want to see the vinyl pulled from its sleeve and resting on a dusty surface, look at someone else's auction or blog and then come back to our page and buy our copy in PERFECT SHAPE.
