NIRVANA I HAVE LISTED THIS BEFORE FOR AUCTION BUT NOW I AM OFFERING A BUY IT NOW OR BEST OFFER
NIRVANA - Love Buzz / Big Cheese - Original SIGNED PROMO COPY 7" on Sub Pop Records(SP 23).
This was signed by Kurdt (who only wrote the word "autograph") and Chris.
The record is guaranteed 100% authentic as are the signatures. It's a shame though that Kurdt didn't actually sign his name.
Here's the story of the record:
I got this from a guy I used to know named Bill Tormas that used to own a record store called "Web Of Sound" in Lancaster, PA. I believe I bought it around 1994 or 1995 from him. He had his store from 1985 to 1995. He used to order regularly directly from Sub Pop pretty much from the beginning so they'd throw in some free records with his orders and this copy of Love Buzz was one of the freebies he got. It's the promo with the red slash on the back where the number would be.
Here's the story of the signatures:
Bill took this record and also a black and white 8" x 10" promo photo with him when he went to see them at a club here in Philly called J.C. Dobbs. The club is only a block and a half from my record store. I believe Nirvana played there three times-1989, 1990(I had the poster from this show and sold it)and 1991. I'm not sure which show this was signed at-the 1990 gig or the 1991 gig. Anyways, Bill told me he was in the upstairs dressing room(it's a really small club) and was hanging out with them and asked Kurdt to sign the record and the 8" x 10" photo so Kurdt just wrote the word "autograph" on both of them and handed them back to Bill. I know the guy he sold the 8" x 10" to as well and I've actually seen the photo in person. As you can see, Chris actually wrote his name when he signed it. I know it sounds crazy but that's exactly what happened. When Bill was closing his store he was selling off all his records including his personal stash. I bought this off of him at a monthly record show in Blue Ball, PA in 1994 or 1995.
Record and sleeve are in excellent NM/MINT condition. I think I played it once or twice just to say that I did!
Both sides have all the proper markings in the runout groove.
Side A has: SP-23-A , KDISC , WHY DON'T YOU TRADE THOSE GUITARS FOR SHOVELS ? and L-31540.
Side B has: SP-23-B , KDISC and L-31540 X.
The signatures are in black magic marker and have very faint yellowing around them that you can see in person but you can't really see in the pictures.
This is not yet listed on the sliver.it Love Buzz page. I've been meaning to list this on there for a long time but I just got lazy with it! I also had a numbered copy I sold last year or the year before. I think the copy I had was # 240 and it's listed on the Love Buzz owner's page. The current owner listed it but also included me in his story of how he got it.
Please take the time to read the entire description and check out the pictures. Like I said-it's just a shame though that Kurdt didn't actually write his name but ya get what ya get I guess!
