Le Orme Collage 1970 Gatefold 1st Press Import

Truly historic, collectible and important record.  Vinyl like this is as much an investment as it is an enjoyment.

I will be listing a few rare Import Prog Rock from MY collection.   All are NM to VG++ original press releases.  From non-smoking home, these have always been sleeved in plastic.

See web for info regarding the significance of this record, its rarity and lasting impact.  Plus, a true pleasure to listen to, especially on vinyl.

Original recording, No cut out no punch out-   The original issue.

Cover:

The cover is NM-/VG++, mostly due to some "crazing" of smooth cover.   Hard to see but at an angle you can see minor hairline cracks running horizontally through the pictures on front.  But I am being picky.  Gatefold in very good condition.  No seam splits.  For this vintage the cover is in very good, but not perfect condition.  Record has not been opened or handled much.  Not perfect but this is an original copy some 40 years old.  Doubt you can find a nicer copy.

Vinyl:

Truly NM- Little to no spindle wear, no audible scratches or pops.  Very glossy, flat and round.   In 9/10 condition.

Condition is subjective, please spend a moment or two to zoom in and decide for yourself if this is a record you wish to invest in.  To truly enjoy this record get an original copy, original mix and in a condition that does not compromise the sonics and provides full range sound.  Get a copy, like this, that you can actually listen to at a rockin' volume.

None of my records have been machine cleaned, I prefer not to do so.  All may benefit from such a clean, I just prefer to use light brushing to clean my LP's.

Not a re-issue, Original And Vintage recording.

NICE REVIEW FROM WEB

Original 1970 first pressing in nice gatefold cover...

The very first (and arguably BEST) Le ORME album..at the time a powerful unique keyboard driven band, very early adventurous progressive...Back in 1969 they released their first album, "Ad Gloriam", which finds the band exploring pop/psychedelia. Realizing the style of that music was changing, in part to the rise of progressive rock, they decided to go prog, and the results is "Collage", which is the first in a series of albums that would serve them well for their next three releases. They moved to Philips from a label called Car Juke Box, and reduced their lineup to a three piece with Claudio Galieti and Nino Smeraldi now out of the picture, leaving the band with bassist/guitarist/vocalist Aldo Tagliapietra, keyboardist Toni Pagliuca, and drummer Michi dei Rossi...The music is here is more RAW (has that live "in the studio" feel) than their albums that followed and there are some extended organ solos and odd experiments that will turn some collectors "ON" and might turn some off  ( like those who enjoy Lp's "Uomo di Pezza" and "Felona e Sorona".) Pagliuca's keyboard setup here is just Hammond organ and clavinet. The title track is very busy like the best parts of The NICE, with some classical themes played on a clavinet. "Cemento Armato" consists of a lenghty organ solo. The organ here is heavily fuzzed and oddly for a LE ORME album -- One  can't help but be reminded of Mike Ratledge of SOFT MACHINE or Vincent Crane of Atomic Rooster. You may have never imagined LE ORME sounding like this! More shock arrives with this experiment called "Evasione Totale" -- reminding of many of the Krautrock groups of the time. It's full of spacy organ, experiments with echo effects, complex passages, and love how Aldo Tagliapietra gives us nice bass work to go with it! Hard to believe what they were doing just two years before ("Ad Gloriam"). There's a psychedelic experiment called "Immagini", dominated by organ, and complete with Tagliapietra's voice electronically modified, as common with late '60s psychedelia. But one thing for sure is this is something you won't mistake for "Ad Gloriam". "Collage" was the album that helped launch the Italian prog scene, and a truly  underrated album then and 40 years later of much on-going sought after interest...
