NME C86 (Rough Trade Rough 100) RARE UK Compilation Wedding Present Primal Scream Pastels MINT-
RARE original UK first pressing of the famed New Musical Express indie compilation "C86" on Rough Trade Records (c. July 1986).
Featuring: Primal Sream, The Mighty Lemon Drops, The Soup Dragons, The Wolfhounds, The Bodines, Mighty Mighty, Stump, Bogshed, Witness, The Pastels, The Age Of Chance, as well as Shop Assistants, Close Lobsters, Miaow, Half Man Half Biscuit, The Servants, MacKenzies, Big Flame, We`ve Got A Fuzzbox And We`re Gonna Use It, McCarthy, The Shrubs and The Wedding Present! 
"C86 is a cassette compilation released by the British music magazine NME in 1986, featuring new bands licensed from British independent record labels of the time. As a term, C86 quickly evolved into shorthand for a guitar-based musical genre characterized by jangling guitars and melodic power pop song structures, although other musical styles were represented on the tape. In its time, it became a pejorative term for its associations with so-called "shambling" (a John Peel-coined description celebrating the self-conscious primitive approach of some of the music and underachievement). The C86 scene is now recognized as a pivotal moment for independent music in the UK."     - From the wikipedia C86 article.
A point of interest: C86 has only just (June 2014) been re-released on CD in an expanded version. Garnering rave reviews in the UK press, the new release received a "Best New Reissue" rating of 9.2 points from Pitchfork.com. Here, then is your chance to own the original in all its (near-impeccable) vinyl glory!
GRADING:
EX+ COVER with minor general wear. Please see photos for details.
- Very slight ring wear to front only (at top center).
- Slightly scuffed corner at bottom right.
- Minimal creases to spine.
- Also includes the RARE custom-printed "£4.49" store sticker that lists all the bands involved.

EX+(+) RECORD that has been played a few times. In fine condition!
- Some light general hairlining, stemming mostly from sleeve removal.
- Side one has a superficial, vertical scuff (1 inch long) that extends through the first four tracks. The scuff is absolutely inaudible.
- One single near-invisible spindle line on label (side two).
-  The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves feature hand-written commentary that is so small as to be illegible for these tired eyes of mine...

PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded EX+(+) condition:  You will not find another copy of "NME C86" offering similar value-for-money on all of eBay!
