vg+ = several light [hairline] marks, still plays clean with a crisp fidelity throughout.

vg = Many light/hairline marks . Record still plays well with only occassional quiet surface noise and/or click.

vg- = loss of lustre to vinyl. several scratches and heavy marks, will play without sticking or jumping but will have surface noise throughout
