The Salt City Six
PLAYS THE CLASSICS IN DIXIELAND -
Audiophile APS-5980 of AP-80 –
San Antonio Label -
Recommended by TAS

One of the hardest-to-find discs on the TAS list, this is indeed the stuff of Gold Label Audiophile AP-80 featuring The Salt City Six, the Audiophile re-issue when the record label re-located to San Antonio.

An awesome Ewing Nunn recording of note, that utilizes custom made microphones and mic pre-amps, all keenly applied by one of the finest recordists of the last century, if not the best.

Just plan on attending the main ballroom of the Penn Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh, where Mr. Nunn will unfailingly take you.  And in that, don't expect just Dixieland.  As this six-man ensemble is going to deliver the WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE, GRANADA, EL CAPITAN (which is great!), AH, SO PURE, and NEW ORLEANS like you've never heard before.

A glorious album, unquestionably a classic in vinyl literature: Here in a cover without major fault; record inside will play near mint.

When a friend of mine puts this record on, he closes all doors and windows and posts a sign outside:

“DO NOT DISTURB UNTIL THE MUSIC STOPS.  Thank you, The Management.”

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
