Background

Over the next 12-18 months I’ll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop that shut it’s doors in the early 1980’s. The collection covers a period from the late 1960’s through to the time of the shop’s closure and includes large quantities of 60s/70’s rock, progressive and modern classical music. Most of the items are unplayed (or at most have sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted. You don’t get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70’s shop stock anymore! This short paragraph of background information is included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.

UNSOLD SHOP STOCK Simply immaculate U.K. 1961 Fontana light blue textured label pressing of Nat Adderley's 'Naturally' L.P. (Catalogue Reference: FONTANA FJL 118 683 268 JCL). This is clearly an early-60s pressing (but I cannot guarantee a 1961 pressing but it is likely it is) as it has the textured labels (as noted above) and a thick cardboard Fontana sleeve which had been phased out by the mid-60s. I would guess this is UNPLAYED as I cannot see any indication (i.e. around the spindle hole, around the outer edge of the vinyl) that this has ever been played. I very confident in an EXCELLENT+/NEAR MINT grading on the vinyl. There is a small amount of plastic 'rash'/sweat on the A-side but otherwise there is absolutely nothing else worth mentioning. It is highly questionable that you could find a better copy. The sleeve is nearly as immaculate as the vinyl and is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition. The laminate is still very 'fresh' in appearance (i.e. not excessively scuffed) and aside from a couple of isolated patches of grubbiness the rear is still a pristine, white colour (more condition details below).

The cover is graded as being in EXCELLENT+. This is an early 60s Fontana pressing with a decent cardboard sleeve. Having been housed in a poly sleeve it's whole life the laminate still retains a 'fresh' appearance (i.e. not excessively scuffed). Aside from a small amount of grubbiness around the opening edge the rear is still plain white (again the poly has prevented yellowing etc.). There are no other comments to make about the rear of the sleeve. Under an intense light some light creases are evident in the front sleeve. These are not really visible in normal daylight. Each of the corners has received a light knock with the most pronounced being the bottom right-hand corner. There is a tiny amount of damage to the spine a result of the sleeve being in a rack and bending slightly. This is a stunning looking copy of a 50 year old record. As with so many of the records from this source I would suggest it would be very hard to find a superior copy.

Vinyl

As I have noted above it is highly unlikely that this copy has been played and accordingly it is graded as being in EXCELLENT+/NEAR MINT condition. The only obvious 'flaw' (if it can be called as such) is a limited amount of light plastic 'rash'/sweat on the A-side. This has come from the poly-lined inner. This is not excessive, is very superficial and will in no way impact/impede play. This is a Fontana textured label pressing dating it to the mid-60s at the latest. The labels are immaculate. Although you see this record around you NEVER see it in this kind of condition. It has virtually always been played to death.

Concluding Remarks

Again, possibly the best copy of this record you are ever going to find. Please check my other auctions for further rare items in similarly immaculate condition. Save me as a Favourite Seller because there is plenty more good stuff where this came from!
