Neil Young ORIG US ST LP EX ’68 W7 labels Reprise RS6317 Folk Rock

Neil Young

Neil Young

Original 1st Press US LP released in 1968 on the two tone Reprise label with the W7 logo. Cat: RS 6317. This album has a gatefold sleeve.

This batch of LP’s are from a very recently acquired collection of all original late 60’s early 70’s pressing LP’s. There are around 200 albums I hope to list over the coming weeks some fantastic titles amongst them most over 45 years old!! I have hand cleaned and listened to every album and graded conservatively (as per usual) to give the most accurate grading I can. I hope you enjoy browsing or bidding on the titles as much as I have listening to them all.

On his songs for Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young had demonstrated an eclecticism that ranged from the rock of "Mr. Soul" to the complicated, multi-part arrangement of "Broken Arrow." On his debut solo album, he continued to work with composer/arranger Jack Nitzsche, with whom he had made "Expecting to Fly" on the Buffalo Springfield Again album, and together the two recorded a restrained effort on which the folk-rock instrumentation, most of which was by Young, overdubbing himself, was augmented by discreet string parts. The country & western elements that had tinged the Springfield's sound were also present, notably on the leadoff track, "The Emperor of Wyoming," an instrumental that recalled the Springfield song "A Child's Claim to Fame."

Tracks: The emporer of Wyoming/ The loner/ If I could have her tonight/ I’ve been waiting for you/ The old laughing lady/ String quartet from Whiskey boot hill/ Here we are in the years/ What did you do to my life?/ I’ve loved her so long/ The last trip to Tulsa.

B-side of label has a few light marks, there are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles throughout mostly noticeable between tracks and in quiter passages and is in Excellent condition. Thick gatefold cover has ring wear and light marks, light scuffing on corners, all seams are fully intact and is in VG+ condition.

Payment is accepted by Paypal. Within Australia we also accept Direct deposit transfer and Australia Post Money Orders.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
