Description
Auction is for an original LP vinyl record album titled DEAD MAN with music by Neil Young. This album is basically the soundtrack for the Jim Jarmusch film which stars Johnny Depp. There are 2 vinyl LP discs in this album, and each has a separate sleeve with photos from the film (see below -- great photos of actor Johnny Depp). This 12" vinyl record was opened, probably to be played once or twice or maybe just to verify its contents. The white glare that appears on parts of the the scans below is just a flash caused by our digital camera and does not appear on the actual covers or vinyl records. The album and the actual vinyl are in very good condition, with the caveat that there are some occasional scuffs on the outer parts of the album covers (from simple shelfwear). The actual vinyl is not warped. Our watermark "For Sale by Edge-Online" does not appear on the actual items.
SPECIAL BONUS -- We will include with this record album a few magazine clippings (some originals, some copies) that feature Neil Young. One of these is an 8-page interview of Neil Young by Peter Buck (R.E.M. guitarist).
Additional information about condition: The previous owner was an avid collector of vinyl records. In many cases, he acquired the records because he liked the artwork and liner notes – he rarely played the records and many from this collection are still wrapped in their factory plastic. He changed record needles at least once a year, so whatever wear would be caused by occasional record-play is likely minimal. the previous owner even stored his records in a climate-controlled part of his home office! They were not exposed to sunlight or warmth, which are the usual ways that vinyl records can be damaged.
This vinyl record is just part of a larger, massive collection that we acquired from the estate of a film critic. The overall collection contains a huge archive of vintage cinema, great music and comic books memorabilia. We will be listing remnants of this great collection now through the Spring.
