Description
Japan first pressing vinyl LP, with eight classic tracks in NM condition. OBI is clean and crisp, record in still sealed condition; there are small beginnings of tears to the three sides of the spine (minimal) otherwise beautifully original shape. This is from my personal collection, and is one of the holy grails for collectors. New Order is / was my favorite band and I collected their catalogue as best I could mostly as each release came out, haunting my favorite record store that handled imports in middle America. Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Steven Morris formed The Stiff Kittens (mistakenly printed on a gig flyer), Warsaw, and finally the epic Joy Division, that managed a limited amount of quality output that is as relevant today as ever. Ian passed in 1980 and the group New Order began as a new chapter in the lives of the remaining band members, soon to add Gillian Gilbert and turning toward a more electronic sound. The release is produced by New Order, and has been named in lists of the top 100 albums of all time (with good reason). The stunning sleeve is by Peter Saville, using a photo postcard of "A Basket Of Roses" painting, inspired by Martha & The Muffins singer Martha Ladlay. The rear sleeve is die cut and has a color-based coding wheel: the front decodes to Fact 75. This cover was also released in the UK as a classic vinyl commemorative stamp. Artwork was carried through to the Blue Monday and Confusion singles. Smoke-free home, kept in a original sealed plastic sleeve, never played.
