A notable Sheffield outing and one of the finest guitar records out there.
The Giuliani piece is quite stunning and features Newman along with the Sequoia String Quartet as they deliver INTRODUCTION, THEME, VARIATIONS AND POLONAISE, Op. 65. Followed by wonderful duo work on a Carulli piece, PETIT DUO NOCTURNE, with Newman and Laura Oltman delicately dancing their guitars. Ends on a solo of Newman's, the Luigi Legnani INTRODUCTION, THEME, VARIATIONS AND FINALE, Op. 64.
Not your usual Direct Disc fare, this record won't peel the wallpaper or re-arrange the listening room furniture. But it will capture the pluck and sweetness of strings, played by very competent artists in love with the music here.
A tasty Sunday concert, here in a jacket with minor shelf (nothing serious), while within, is the direct-cut platter in near-mint shape.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
