Description
Up for auction is the fine psychedelic heavy blues funk rock original Calla records lp housed in original inner by Next Morning. You need this! Super clean vinyl!! Nice keeper copy here.
One of the best African-American psychedelic groups, from Trinidad formed in 1970, offering up both heavy rock and acid blues, The Next Morning fit into both categories, making them an interesting curiosity regardless of their music. The music, however--average 1970 hard-rock with soul, hard rock, and psychedelic influences, particularly from Jimi Hendrix--is not as unusual as their origins. One would not suspect from listening that the group were largely from Trinidad, with the proliferation of heavy, bluesy guitar and organ riffs, and the strained soul-rock vocals of Lou Phillips. They recorded one album, released in 1971, that received little notice before their breakup.
The opener is a real fuzz burner with cool effects that could easily have fit into more modern moves by groups like Captain Beyond, Bloodrock or Charlie and this Lp is almost there! Perhaps if they had relied less on the Hendrix sound this could have been an original masterpiece. They get into some loud jams with manic drumming but manage to keep things under control and melodic. It just misses the mark to my ears but I enjoy listening to it every time I put it on my player!
LP is EX white promo! and super nice! Jacket is DJ copy used with age wear seam splits with price sticker on front that I will let the new owner remove. We can't do anything about that otherwise cover is clean and not bad for a 44+ year old! No reserve and reasonable start!
We rate this to be a 4 star album and a must for serious psych heads! Great Lp for Heavy / rock heads to as some of the moves on this Lp cater to that early hard rock mix of fast guitars and great beats and funky soul sounds borders on metal at times!
After long hiatus we are back with lots of items to come! Keep watching Forgotten Sounds! We are happy to combine ship for multiples! All items guaranteed! Good luck with bidding!!!
