For sale is this most scarce vintage cassette of NICK DRAKE - PINK MOON on Island Records 1972. This fabulous example is a genuine 1972 Island UK 1st Issue cassette of this iconic title. Pink Moon was only ever released once anywhere in the world on the cassette format. It is believed that a single batch of possibly as little as a few dozen copies were manufactured by Precision Tapes Ltd. a specialist tape duplication service in London. It features a generic Island pink label inlay, light grey tape shell with the DP logo of the Data Packaging Corporation and pink paper labels with both the Island "i" and Witchseason logos. The catalogue number is ZCI 9184.
Condition is great: The case is Excellent (EX) with very light wear only. The inlay is VG+. It is in excellent condition but for the colour fading that is common to the Island pink label cassettes. It has light wear and signs of handling only. The cassette is VG+ with light signs of use and some bubbling to the labels on both sides (still firmly affixed). The original pressure pad is still present.
PLEASE NOTE: This cassette has been briefly tested on both sides, very carefully returned to the start of the side and is known to be working, however: Cassettes of this age are exceedingly fragile and should only ever be played with extreme caution on properly maintained equipment. Early small batch Island pink label cassettes were often manufactured without any leader material at the start of the tape - this is a point of particular vulnerability. I absolutely would not recommend ever playing a tape of this value and as such this cassette is sold as a collector's item only and without guarantee. **YOU PLAY THIS TAPE AT YOUR OWN RISK**
