Nick Lowe & His Noise to Go BBC Rock Hour Transcription LP Version B
In the USA, BBC In Concert transcription discs were marketed as the BBC Rock Hour with their own custom label. This transcription disc, #326, is of a Nick Lowe And His Noise To Go, Hammersmith Palais concert from 15 March 1982. The broadcast date for American stations was the week commencing 27 June 1982. The concert is introduced by Richard Skinner in London and Dick Sheppard in America. Unlike a regular BBC transcription disc, the BBC Rock Hour series included American radio adverts, in this case for Coors Beer, Honda Motorcycles, and Datsun Cars. On sides 1 and 2, adverts are placed after track 3, and at the end of side 1. Each radio network airing the Rock Hour programme may have had different sponsors for the programme. In this case, different American presenters would be employed along with adverts for the relevant sponsors. Therefore, the same Rock Hour disc would be pressed with these alterations, but with the same music content. The different pressings would be designated as Version A, Version B, etc. This disc is version B. Version A has adverts for Miller beer instead of Coors. The record is in excellent condition, and was obtained directly from the founder of radio station KVMX-FM, Eastland, Texas, in 1988.
