Description

For sale is a triple vinyl record set by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band titled "Dirt, Silver and Gold", originally released in 1972 on United Artists Records, with a tri-fold cover with a gate-fold cover inside. This is a reissue with the "Orange Sunrise" labels that were used between 1977-80. According to the liner notes, this record was mastered by Doug Sax at the Mastering Lab, located in Los Angeles, California. In the dead wax between the last tracks and the labels is etched "T" and "Remember The Opry", followed by the matrix numbers A-3/B-3/RE-2/D-5/E-3/F-3, indicating that early stampers were used ti make these records at Columbia Records' pressing plant, located in Terre Haute, Indiana. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this three record set used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put them into three MFSL archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any insert or inner sleeve that may have come with the release. The inner sleeves are all Near Mint. The cover is graded as Excellent because of corner blunts, shelf rubs and very faint ring wear. The spine has a little damage and color loss at the corners from these blunts and rubs. The records are auto-coupled, meaning Record One has Sides One and Six, Record Two has Sides Two and Five and Record Three has Sides Three and Four. The vinyl is visually graded, collectively, as Very Good Plus, because of superficial sleeve marks and hairlines, one of which on Side Three, can be felt with a fingertip. They still have surfaces that are shiny and bright, without any scuffs, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading this record between Very Good Plus and Excellent, because of occasional super low levels of surface noise and just a few seconds of low levels of ticking at the end of Side Three. They play all the way through without any pops, lock-ups or skips from start to finish. I have more Country albums, as well as records of all genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing.    I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
